Well, it seems like just yesterday that I was writing about fall and the new school year being upon us. However, March madness is now upon us. It seems that each year passes more quickly than the last. Some athletic seasons have already come to a close while a few are kicking into high gear. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams are sure to provide us a lot to cheer about at the NCAA tournaments. Baseball and Track & Field are quickly ramping up their seasons as are many others. There is always something to watch and someplace to go where you can run into old teammates and good friends.

We, the board of your OSU Varsity “O” Alumni Association, hope you are taking advantage of all of the opportunities provided by your membership. We continue to try to provide benefits to members both near and afar. No matter where you are membership with the Varsity “O” gains you access to a list of over 2300 members located throughout the country. Members, with whom you can network - about careers or other opportunities, reconnect about old times, or even coordinate reunions. Member benefits like the upcoming “Meet the Coach Night,” where on April 17th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. you, as a member, can bring one special guest to hear coach Tressel speak about the spring game and the upcoming season. This is an event that is only for our members.

Member benefits, like your ability to nominate a teammate for consideration to the Athletic Hall of Fame. Only members can nominate potential candidates. Benefits like discounted health screening at Health Wise Center or discounts on historical game films dating back to 1925.

Recently, we provided assistance to the university’s Student Athlete Scholastic Support Organization (SASSO) as they kicked off their new Career Core website (http://sasso.careercore.com). This site is earmarked to help ALL student-athletes, past and present, with assistance in career objectives. Within this site you have the ability to find or become a mentor, to obtain resume assistance or get career counseling. I encourage you to check it out.

Our association with The Ohio State University guarantees it’s always an exciting time of year.
