The Ohio State University Department of Athletics
has created a new position that will work closely
with the Varsity O Alumni Societies: Alumni
Relations Coordinator, Tammy Savage, a former
Ohio State student-athlete from Upper Arlington,
Ohio, has been in this new role for less than three
months, but she is already laying the foundation of
the new position and is ready to make Varsity O the
best society it can possibly be.
“I am quite excited to channel my energy into this new role as the
Alumni Relations Coordinator,” Savage wrote in an intro letter to the
Societies. “For those of you who are unaware, this is a new position for
the Department of Athletics and I am confident we are moving in a
direction that will promote the continued success of our athletic program
and empower our student-athletes.”
Savage’s background includes fundraising, event planning, creating publications
and collateral material, membership management, community
outreach and working with volunteers to support a variety of programs
and initiatives. Her objectives and goals for the Varsity O Alumni
Societies echo the goals created when the Societies were first established.
“I am here to help develop, strengthen and create opportunities for
member involvement; to promote and support Ohio State Athletics and
the student-athlete experience; to maintain alumni connections through
relevant programming and activities; to establish procedures and policies
that promote administrative accuracy and efficiency and to work and
help guide the organization to be the best that it can be with the
resources available.”
Savage works out of a second floor office in St. John Arena. She can be
